Underneath the limestone plateau where the Ardèche flows, water and time have dug a cave where man found refuge during prehistoric times. This cave remained sealed until it was rediscovered in 1994. On this occasion, more than 1,000 prehistoric paintings of men and animals were found. The quantity and the quality of the paintings make Caverne du Pont d'Arc an exceptional historic site. To preserve it, a facsimile of the cave opened in Vallon Pont d'Arc. A fascinating site!
